Old Fire Station Filming

This was the second to last shoot of both the first semester and 2018 and it involved going to one of the main clubs in Bournemouth town centre to shoot a short film of our own choosing. The basic premise that we came up with was someone who is drunk goes up to the bar asking for a drink but the barman says that they've had enough and he ends up stealing somebody else's drink. We had the choice to use either one of the four bars in the club but ended up filming in the main one in the club area.

This shoot gave us the opportunity to constantly switch roles during each scene change meaning there was a new director, camera operator for each new shot. I mainly focused on shooting a variety of behind-the-scenes footage ranging from brief interviews with the cast and crew to a look at what happens just to get one shot. Including having a boom operator crouching down under a counter for around 20 minutes out of sight.

We had around three hours to get around 10 to 12 shots but we were shooting it as more of a professional film in terms of how the film would look through lighting and camera techniques and the fact that it was a single camera exercise (excluding the behind the scenes camera) which is how a good majority of TV shows/films are shot.

This was a less stressful location shoot compared to others ones that I've done and was still a lot of fun especially when one of our group members "accidentally" broke open a bottle and decided to just drink it as their way of hiding the evidence.
