Final Few Editing Workshops

This stuff all took place before the Old Fire Station shoot (see previous post) but I still feel like its worth talking about based on all the things its helped me improve on in terms of editing. Each weekly workshops have focused on a new area of Avid ranging from simple things like adding titles to visual effects/transitions in recent weeks and it has given a better idea about how certain aspects of Avid work.

One area I want to try more of is colour grading as I've only done it once in Premiere Pro for a college project and the systems Avid uses for grading are quite different. However, alongside this, using Avid has helped me understand how certain aspects of Premiere work such as organising bins in the best way and key framing and alerting audio to get the best effects which work in similar on both types of software.

Since the main editing sessions only ran during the first semester, we now only have two sessions left, one normal one on the first day back and then an edit test which goes through everything we have learnt over the past three months into one, short and lovely test. I am planning on producing my own films and use Premiere again to remind myself of how it works and I will most likely do the same for Avid in the future.
